Being in the digital marketing business, I am always looking for new apps to take my content to the next level. After all, nothing stays the same for long. Especially for creatives and marketers alike. We are currently sitting on a goldmine of Instagram apps, but how many of us know which ones are best and when to use them? Allow me to introduce you, if you haven’t met already, my current faves that are not only taking my social media content to the next level, but are also well worth upgrading to premium so that your content doesn’t go unnoticed.
HUJI– This app right here is my current obsession! If you’re into vintage photos from the 80s and 90s era, like myself, then this app is for you! It’s a disposable camera with instant preview. No need to wait a few a days to get your film processed or printed. My favorite part of using this, aside from the nostalgia it gives me, it provides a time stamp! One can choose between the current date 2018 or 1998. Check out some of the photos I’ve taken below!
PHOTO TOASTER– If I’m not using the built in photo editing feature in iPhone Photos or Adobe Light Room, then Photo Toaster is by far my favorite photo editing app. It can do everything from simple lighting adjustments, color corrections, crop, preset filters and more to give your photo a stylish finish.
HYPE TYPE– Hype Type is a motion typography app that will make your stories stand out above the rest with its animation features. It gives you the ability to emphasize and truly “Hype” your story. This app is perfect for announcing news over your story.
CUT STORY– I’ve been following Will Smith on Instagram for sometime now (if you’re not following him then I suggest you go hit that follow button now.) Anyways, quite frequently he will upload videos of him giving daily affirmations or wisdom to his followers. I questioned how does he do this without running into Instagram’s 15 second limitation road block. I did some research and found Cut Story! With Cut Story, it gives you the opportunity to “cut” your video into increments that match the social platform’s limitations. Problem solved, now you can happily upload a a full length video into your story!
RETRO CAMCORDER VHS– If you like the nostalgia element HUJI provides, then you’ll love this VHS app. Take your story back to the 90s era and switch up your content aesthetic. You can import both photos and videos, create montages, add music and add cool effects and glitches.
DESIGN & SCHEDULING APPS
PLANN- If you’re wanting to post onto Instagram but not sure if that photo will follow your page theme best, then PLANN is a great app for creatives. I manage several Instagram accounts so coordinating posts ahead of time is crucial. With Plann, you can visually preview your feed by dragging and dropping photos, schedule your Instagram posts, review Instagram analytics for best performing posts and much more.
And that concludes my list! While marketing is a forever changing business, luckily, there are geniuses in the world who create apps like these to help us stand out from the competition. What apps are you already using? If I missed a few key ones, let me know in the comments below!
