ICYMI: Women Who Slay

October 15, 2018

In case you missed it, we recently hosted Women Who Slay 2018 at the Palms Casino Resort September 28th-30th.  We had over 100 attendees join us for a weekend of empowerment, advice, and networking.  Our goal with Women Who Slay is to gather a group of women who have made their dreams come true and to share that knowledge to encourage and empower others to do the same.  We want to thank our panelists, workshop hosts, and every single attendee that spent the weekend with us and made this year a success!

The weekend kicked off with our Wilson Gabrielle 7 favorite Things Dinner at Scotch80.  Kelley and Tori, the sister duo behind Wilson Gabrielle, hosted an amazing dinner where they gave away 7 of their favorite things to a few select lucky winners.  We also had the pleasure of having the wine selection was curated by Lindsey Geddes, one of the only female Master Sommelier’s in the United States.  The Sauvignon Blanc was a team favorite!

Saturday began with our Mimosa Mix & Mingle Pop-Up Shopping Experience.  Joining us for the shopping experience was Macy’s, Aminah Abdul Jilill, Play Glam, Gem + Elli, Kendra Scott, Lorna Jane, Stella & Dot, Fashion & Fairytale Boutique, and DoMazing.  We had such a good time meeting some of our attendees during this Mix & Mingle and wanted to buy almost everything!

Next up we had our Influencer Panel hosted by Lindsey Simon Gurk featuring Destiny Thompson, Aminah Abdul Jillil, Maria Antoinette Loggins, and Aubrey Marunde.  These ladies were so inspirational in sharing their advice and how they achieved their success. Advice that stuck with us: start by starting, never let fear get in the way, be authentic and true to yourself.  These women were genuine in their advice to others and we were so lucky to have them!

The day then moved into our workshops which offered attendees the opportunity to take two different paths.  Our Bossbabe track was for those who wanted to focus on social media and business.  While our Showstopper track was all about fashion/beauty and health/wellness.

First up on our Bossbabe track was All Things Business with our very own Lin and Alex!  Our co-founders spoke about The Refined Agency and Café Lola, how they built their empire, their partnership, and the best tips they have for aspiring entrepreneurs. Next for All Things Social, social media mavens Ashley Diana and Courtney Bentley, broke down their best advice for growing your brand on social media and podcasting.

Moving to our Showstopper track we started with All Things Fashion & Beauty with Kelley presented by Macy’s.  Kelley and Macy’s teamed up to showcase the trends they are most excited about for Fall 2018.  Kelley then spoke about Wilson Gabrielle, the blog she runs with her sister Tori, and shared her experience in the world of blogging.  We ended the Showstopper track with Ashley Brooke and Dominque Astorino who spoke on All Things Health & Wellness.  Our favorite Tone It Up girl, Ash, and Pop-Sugar Contributor, Dominique, gave attendees an honest conversation about work life balance, stress, and working with brands that match up with your own values. All of these ladies provided attendees with different outlooks and guidance.

Next up was the Ladies Get Paid Workshop presented by Towbin Motorcars.  Ladies Get Paid is an organization dedicated to changing the world, one raise at a time. Sage Ke’alohilani Quiamno  spoke about negotiating salaries, interviewing skills, and leveraging networking.  This workshop was all about knowing your worth!

We then moved upstairs to one of the beautiful Villas for our Bumblebizz Networking Hour with Peroni and Campari cocktails.  We love what Bumblebizz stands for which is making life-changing connections at your own pace, on your own terms.  This cocktail hour gave attendees the opportunity to network with each other, our panelists, and workshop leaders.  Bumblebizz also had a headshot station!  This cocktail hour was so much fun and provided amazing views of the city!

Women Who Slay 2018 concluded on Sunday with Hip-Hop Yoga by led by Heidi Otero and sounds by Silla the Thrilla.  The sentiment of balance and that together we rise was the perfect way to end a weekend of empowerment, hard work, and support.

We’re so grateful for everyone who made this event possible and for every single attendee that came out and supported.  We created this event to provide a platform for conversation and education fostering the sharing of ideas between like-minded women.  Seeing it come to life each year has been amazing!  It’s crazy to think about but we are already thinking about next year.  Leave your comments below for what and who you’d like to see at Women Who Slay 2019!
